Monday: a rink in Sun Valley, Halloween weekend, and still no ski opening
Rainbow Dome is open in Sun Valley. Halloween After Dark, the Trick or Treat Train, and a free Día de los Muertos afternoon are on the calendar. Candy Cloud, Love Sushi, and Western Sky go On Our List. No Colorado resort has an opening date for this week.
Monday, Oct. 26. Events that ended before today were already off the calendar, including Stardew Valley at Red Rocks, the Denver Wiesn, Goblin Giveout, Scream Queens, and the Boulder Burgundy Festival. Nothing new with an end date before today turned up this morning.
Tonight. The Nuggets host the Warriors at Ball Arena at 8:00 p.m. That game was already on the calendar. The Avalanche home games against the Devils on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. and the Flames on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. were already listed too. The Broncos' home game against the Chiefs is Sunday, Nov. 1, at Empower Field. The stadium page lists a 2:25 p.m. start and gates at 12:30 p.m.
Family. Rainbow Dome, a queer-centered indoor roller rink, is On the family list at 1660 Federal Blvd. in Sun Valley. Westword says it opened Oct. 23. Admission is $15 for adults 19 and over, $10 for teens 13–18, and $8 for kids 6–12. Ages 5 and under are free. Skate rental is $5 for adults and teens and $2 for kids. Hours are Thursday 5–10 p.m., Friday 5 p.m. to midnight, Saturday 10 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. We have not been.
Halloween After Dark at Denver Union Station is Saturday, Oct. 31, 7–11:30 p.m., with free entry and a DJ in the Great Hall. The costume contest runs Oct. 30–31. The Georgetown Loop Trick or Treat Train is Oct. 30–31, with departures at 10:00 a.m., 11:25 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:25 p.m., and 3:50 p.m. The event page does not print a fare. Sacred Society's Día de los Muertos celebration is Sunday, Nov. 1, 11 a.m.–1 p.m., at 3410 W. 38th Ave. Entry is free. Live mariachi and a community ofrenda are on the page. Flower crowns, tarot, jewelry, tamales, and drinks are for purchase.
Halloween shows. deadmau5 is at Red Rocks Friday and Saturday. Both event pages list doors at 7:00 p.m. and a 7:30 p.m. start. Haunted Mansion, with Loud Luxury, Bryce Alakai, and MC4D, is at the Fillmore on Friday at 8 p.m. The Denver Gazette lists it at $40 and up. Disco Mystique at Dairy Block, 1800 Wazee St., is Friday and Saturday, 8 p.m.–1 a.m., 21+. The Gazette lists $39.19 and up. Matroda is at Mission Ballroom on Friday, doors 8 p.m. Whethan is there Saturday, doors 9 p.m. The Motet is at Cervantes' Friday and Saturday, doors 7 p.m. and show 8 p.m. Wednesday 13 is at The Federal Theatre on Saturday, doors 7 p.m. and show 8 p.m. The venue page says all ages and lists $25–$30.
Eat. Black Box Cafe and Eats on the Platte were already On Our List. The cafe's own page now supplies the address, 5901 W. 25th Ave. in Edgewater, a soft opening on Wednesday, Oct. 28, and a grand opening on Saturday, Nov. 7. Eats on the Platte is still the Denver Housing Authority food hall in Sun Valley, scheduled for Friday, Oct. 30. We have not eaten at either.
Westword's Oct. 24 openings list adds three that were not pages here yet. Candy Cloud at 15421 E. 104th Ave. in Commerce City, Love Sushi at 9740 Grant St. in Thornton, and Western Sky Bar & Taproom at 4361 S. Broadway in Englewood, which the list says reopened under new ownership, go On Our List. None of these is a review.
Closed, and not listed here. The same Westword list says Fire Bowl Cafe at 11435 E. Briarwood Ave. in Englewood has closed, and so have The Greenwich, Park & Co., The L, and both Bluegrass Coffee & Bourbon Lounge rooms. None of them was a page on Eat or Nightlife, so nothing came off those lists.
Ski. As of this morning, no Colorado resort is open. Vail Daily's Oct. 23 story says Arapahoe Basin, Keystone, and Loveland are making snow and still have no official opening date. Keystone's first lift tickets for sale are Oct. 31. That is not an opening, so Keystone stays off the calendar. Announced dates that stay: Copper Nov. 6, Powderhorn and Purgatory Nov. 20, Steamboat Nov. 21, Granby Ranch Nov. 25, and Aspen Mountain and Snowmass Nov. 26. Telluride is still targeting Nov. 26. The longer note is linked above.
