Evening: Wolf Creek is closed
Wolf Creek's homepage says the ski area is closed from Nov. 1 until the Archuleta County evacuation order is lifted. No reopen date is posted. Arapahoe Basin is still on one run. Keystone's terrain page and OnTheSnow still do not match on lifts. Copper and Breckenridge stay Nov. 6. Vail and Eldora stay Nov. 13. Loveland and Winter Park still have no official date. Events that end today stay through tonight.
Sunday evening, Nov. 1. One-day events dated today stay on the calendar through tonight. They drop off after today. Anything that ended Oct. 31 or earlier is already off. This note replaces the ski line in this morning's note.
Wolf Creek. The homepage, checked this evening, says the ski area will be closed from Sunday, November 1, until the mandatory evacuation order in Archuleta County is lifted. The page calls it a precaution based on recommendations from local and state authorities. It says Archuleta County has experienced a 100-year flood with record-breaking flooding in the San Juan River Basin, and that municipal, county, and state agencies are under extreme duress. It says the site will be updated as information becomes available. It does not post a reopen date. It no longer shows Saturday's operating plan, the Nov. 6–8 reopen, or the Local Appreciation prices. Saturday evening that same homepage listed 1 inch of new snow, a 5-inch storm, a 17-inch midway depth, and 27 inches for the year. OnTheSnow's open-resorts list still shows Wolf Creek open, with a 17-inch base, 3 of 11 lifts, and 43 of 144 runs. That list does not match the homepage.
Still open, or still dated. Arapahoe Basin's snow report lists no snow in the past 24 or 48 hours, an 18-inch base, a high of 41°F, a low of 28°F, 1 of 147 runs, 1 of 9 lifts, and 1 of 10 areas. It says there is no beginner terrain, and that no parking reservations are needed. Saturday evening the same report listed a high of 38°F and a low of 30°F. The run and lift counts are the same.
Keystone's counts still do not match. The terrain page, checked this evening, listed 0 of 21 lifts, 1 of 144 trails, and about 1 percent of the terrain. OnTheSnow's Nov. 1 report lists an 18-inch base, 2 of 21 lifts, 44 acres, and no snow today. Saturday evening the terrain page listed 1 of 21 lifts. This note prints both counts. It does not call the resort closed.
Copper's opening page still says Friday, November 6. Breckenridge's hours page still says opening day is November 6. OnTheSnow's projected-openings list puts Breckenridge on Nov. 26. That is a projection. The hours page is the date on this calendar. The same OnTheSnow list puts Loveland and Winter Park on Nov. 6. Loveland's hours page still says late October or early November and lists the lifts closed for the season. There is still no official date. Winter Park's hours page still says as soon as possible and does not name a day. Those Nov. 6 lines are not opening days.
Eldora's FAQ still schedules Friday, November 13. Vail's hours page still says opening day is Nov. 13, with winter hours starting that day. OnTheSnow's projected list matches those two.
Tonight and Monday. Today's concerts and the Broncos game stay on the calendar through tonight. Fuerza Regida is already on the Red Rocks calendar for Monday, Nov. 2, at 8 p.m. The Nuggets list the Trail Blazers at Ball Arena that night at 7 p.m. No new restaurant opening or closing was verified after this morning's note.
