Chili Chili's Oct. 27, 2026 story says Nicolas Medina will open Cenizas next month at 3900 Tennyson St. The name is Spanish for ashes. The story says he ran the Mexican cantina Tres Chiles in that space from 2018 through 2023, then rented it to Santo Remedio. It says the menu will use family recipes from Mexico, including enchiladas and tacos, and that he plans weekend breakfast and brunch, with more hamburgers, steaks, and meat-filled sandwiches than at Tres Chiles. It also says he has lived in the Berkeley neighborhood for 20 years and that his house is blocks from the restaurant.
The story does not give an opening day or a restaurant website. Checked Thursday, Oct. 29, the same story still says the opening is next month, November. No day is named. We have not eaten here. There is no score.
